Please note our solid wood Pikler Triangles are currently out of stock but you can pre-order from the next batch, available November 30th.

Our solid wood Pikler Triangle is handcrafted in Canada from pine. It can be easily folded for storage using an Allen Key.

We believe the Pikler is best left unfinished but if you decide to finish it as your little one gets older and is no longer at risk for easily slipping or putting their mouth on the Pikler, we recommend the Fusion Mineral Top Coat as a low VOC, eco-friendly option.

Note that our Pikler comes unassembled. If you have a drill, it can be assembled in 20 minutes or less, as you can follow along with our walkthrough assembly video.

It shipped for $35 across Canada.

  • Why Buy a Pikler?

One of the biggest advantages to the Pikler, compared to most other toys, is the number of years your child will enjoy playing with it.

It's great for even young children as a pull up bar but toddlers and young children as old as 6 years old will get the most from it.

It's a very open-ended toy with a variety of different uses (see below - What Can We Do With The Pikler Triangle?

As a Canadian, you're also likely spending at least a few months cooped up indoors. The pikler provides an oppurtunity for young children to continue their gross motor development and gives them something safe to climb.

  • How is a Pikler Triangle a Montessori-Based Toy?

The Pikler Triangle was created by a doctor with very similar philosophies to Maria Montessori, Dr. Emmi Pikler.

Dr. Pikler also believed in independent play, the importance of fostering a child's awareness of itself and its environment, and child-led development.

Her experience with infants and young children led her to conclude that a child’s own movements and the development of these movements are a constant source of joy to them.

The Pikler Triangle allows children to expore their body, learn their own boundaries, and it responds to their climbing needs.

It helps develop gross motor skills, physical strength and agility, confidence, and encourages free movement and free play.

  • What Can We Do With The Pikler Triangle?

The beautiful thing about the Pikler is that it's a very open ended toy.

There's the obvious uses like using it as a pull up bar, climbing it, sliding down the ramp, or connecting the ramp to other climbing toys (like the Waldorf Rocker) to practice balancing on the slide, but it can also be used for more imaginative play, like covering it with a blanket to build a fort or tent. We've had many pretend campouts with our Pikler.

  • Is the Pikler Triangle Safe?

The wonderful thing about the Pikler is that young children can improve their gross motor skills with a tool that's perfect for their size. Jungle gyms are often designed for older children (and crowded with them!) so it can be harder for them to get around on most playgrounds.

The Pikler provides a much safer option for young children to climb and explore their movements.

Please note that while the Pikler is used to encourage independent movement, you still need be close to them while on it.
