5 Quick and Healthy Recipes You Can Make With Your Toddler - Featuring The Superfood Hemp Hearts!

We are so excited to introduce you to Together Hemp, a Toronto-based company that sells hemp products and is owned by... our husbands!

It was an easy decision to partner with Together Hemp. Not only to support our husbands and their growing business, but also because we truly believe in the health benefits of hemp.

Our families love hemp and we think your family will too!

Hemp is one of the most nutrient-dense foods. They need absolutely no preparation and they’re super mild in flavour. You can just toss it in with many of the meals or smoothies your family already enjoys!

We suggest setting up our learning tower at your kitchen counter and giving children the task of adding hemp hearts into their meal prep themselves! Children will be more likely to eat food they had a hand in preparing and the learning tower helps them do just that! It really makes baking and food preparation with your toddler so easy and fun.

NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS OF HEMP HEARTS

  • Comparable protein content to beef and considered a complete protein

  • Contain a high concentration of polyunsaturated fats

  • They have a perfect balance of Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acids

  • They have a high concentration of phytosterols, which are known to lower cholesterol

  • They are packed with vitamins and minerals (zinc, iron, magnesium, vitamins E and B)

  • They promote stress reduction and mood balance

The most common question we hear is: If hemp seeds come from the same plant as marijuana, is it safe for our children?

YES!

Although hemp seeds come from the same plant species as marijuana, it is a non-psychoactive relative of the plant. They are completely safe to serve to both adults and children of all ages.

As parents, we are always looking for ways to boost the nutrition content of our children’s food, especially for all those picky eaters. Hemp hearts is an easy solution! They don’t have much flavour and they blend smoothly, without changing the texture of food.

With that said, we thought we would share a few ideas about how to easily include hemp hearts into your family’s diet.

These are also great recipes to have your child help with - simple and safe! Involving your child in food prep whenever possible can encourage them to try new foods. Our toddler learning tower really helps with this. It allows your child to easily work right next to you at the counter - mixing, pouring, and scooping. It’s the #1 most used item in our house!
